Fall and winter are here, and that means more makeup decisions. For most us, the fall and winter months bring out a different kind of everyday look, one that is subtly sultry and mysterious. Think beautiful wispy eyelashes, feathered brows, and a bold red lip. At least for me, that’s how it goes. So time to pack up those sun kissed bronzers and golden highlighters, and embrace the pasty skin! Today I wanted to show you a few of the things that I can’t stop reaching for in my makeup stash. I got this wonderful idea from Shireen’s blog: Reflection of Sanity. Enjoy my Winter Makeup Menu!

Winter Makeup

Anastasia Stick Foundation – Warm Porcelain | HERE

I am loving this foundation stick for fall. It matches my skin tone perfectly and has a very effortless look and feel to the wear. Foundation sticks are all the rage right now, and while I have heard there are better ones on the market, I can’t stop reaching for this for a convenient and travel friendly foundation routine. Note: there are mixed reviews about this product. I personally like it, but you may not!

Bite Beauty Multistick – Brioche | HERE

Bite Beauty’s newest release is their Multistick which you can use as, well, really anything! They smell freaking delicious and they blend out effortlessly on the cheeks, as eyeshadow, and on the lips. The colour Brioche is the perfect sultry mauve for the colder months. It’s gorgeous on anyone!

BeautyBlender – In Black | HERE

I reach for my BeautyBlender nearly every single day. I can’t help it. I just love the way it applies foundation and I have nearly swore off brushes at this point. I knew I had to have the black coloured one! So welcome to my stash my little Black Beauty. See what I did there?

Winter Makeup

Essence Pure Nude Highlighter | HERE

Did anyone else purchase this because Kathleen Lights was raving about it? I sure did, and it’s so beautiful. It’s all I’ve been reaching for lately. It gives the most subtle glow to your skin and has a slightly warm sheen to it. In the winter months I find I don’t want to bother with bronzer too much, so this adds some colour to your cheeks (while highlighting them) in all the right ways.

Glossier Balm Dotcom | HERE

This isn’t pictured, because I honestly forgot about it. Do you know why I forgot about it? Because it’s sitting on my nightstand. I use this EVERY SINGLE NIGHT before bed. It literally repairs your lips overnight. One night, that’s all it takes. I suffer from really chapped lips in the winter, usually to the point of bleeding, and this is a lifesaver. You need this if you’re the same!

Kathleen Lights x Morphe Eyeshadow Palette | HERE (sold out)

So far I am loving this palette and I keep reaching for it. I’ve done lots of simple looks with it, but have yet to get super dramatic (just being honest). This has definitely been my go to palette so far for this fall/winter. The sheen colours are gorgeous but some of the mattes could use a better formula. More on this one to come though!

Winter Makeup

NYX Born to Glow Illuminating Primer | HERE

I am loving this primer for that subtle winter glow without going too heavy. I’ve been using this every time I wear makeup for the last month or so, and I don’t see that changing. It gives your face a nice pearly glow, while keeping your makeup put all day long. It is such an affordable price too which I love.

Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick – Stepping Out | HERE

You guys, this colour is so pretty. At first I wasn’t crazy about it, but then I pushed myself to wear it again and I fell in love. It is such a pretty deep brown nude, with mauvy undertones (can we make ‘mauvy’ a word already?). The applicator is my favorite part and makes it so easy to get the perfect lipstick lines. The wear isn’t super long lasting, but I try to have realistic expectations with that.

Urban Decay Afterglow Blush – Fetish | HERE

I think I may have purchased this last winter, but I definitely brought it back out! It is not a summer colour at all. This blush is a deep mauve that leans more red than purple. The blush itself is super long lasting and I am just in love with this colour. I’ve also been reaching for this to use on my eyelids for a daily monochromatic look!

Winter Makeup

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick – Comfort Matte – Tampered | HERE

This might just be the perfect 90’s lipstick. It’s so dark and moody. A perfect fall/winter favorite! I’ve been reaching for this when I have a night out and I want a really bold lip, or when I am feeling a little moody like one of The Craft ladies (90’s kids, you know).  Their comfort mattes are part of their newest lipstick collection and they are so comfortable and creamy. You can’t go wrong with any colour!

I hope you guys enjoyed finding out what’s on my winter Makeup Menu! To clarify, we don’t really get a ‘fall’ in Arizona, so it’s ride or die from to summer to winter here. All of these products I cannot stop reaching for, and I didn’t leave any out! So, what’s on your makeup menu for fall and winter?

  1. Great post and picks Emily! I have a big crush on smashbox lipsticks lately and this one with the mauve undertones looks like something I really need! It is very hard to find such a unique color! I always discover beautiful products on your blog! 🙂
Thanks for sharing, hope you are having a great week so far! xo

    1. Thank you Stella! There is a beautiful orange one too from Smashbox that you must check out! All the colours are really pretty in this range.

  2. What a great idea for a post! The Essence highlighter sounds great- I haven’t seen it in stores near me, but I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out. That Black Beauty blender is awesome 🙂

    1. Thanks Lindsey! I can’t take credit for it though. I got the idea from another blogger: Reflection of Sanity. You can find the Essence Highlighter at Ulta for sure, and then probably Target! 🙂

  3. Oh I really like the way you’ve laid out this post – gorgeous product photography! Back to the point, Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick looks 100% up my street, I’ll definitely be checking that out next time I’m at their counter 🙂

    1. Thank you Gabrielle! I am trying to get better at product photography haha. And yes, UD recently release a bunch of lipsticks and they are all wonderful!

  4. Glad to hear you like the Morphe palette so far! You’ll always have those few shadows in a palette that you never touch. At least that always happens to me. I don’t own any Urban Decay Blush, I’ll need to try one out sometime!

    1. So far so good! And I totally agree about the few shades. That usually why I don’t buy palettes, but had to go for this one!

  5. What a gorgeous collection of makeup, Emily and again, thank you so much for the shoutout! I need to pick up the NYX primer, I have Angel Veil which again….I have completely forgotten about. I was tempted to pick up the Bite Beauty Multistick but does it really perform well as eyeshadow? Will it crease because it’s creamy? And I have yet to see that Essence highlighter here in Canada, why US always get all the good stuff and us poor neighbours don’t get the same love? Dammit! 😛

    1. You are welcome!! I need to try the Bite stick more on the eyes. I didn’t have a problem with a primer but I am not sure about wear without. I have also only used it a few times as I’ve just purchased. I will probably do a whole separate review on them though. You should just move to the US! An obvious answer… “Woman Moves to United States for More Makeup Options.” Hahaha. 😉

    1. The lip balm is amazing. 100% I would recommend it to every single person. I love how the Beautyblender just gets rid of your pores!

  6. I didn’t think I would like foundation sticks but yes, you’re right they are convenient and trendy as well. Lovely photos here. I feel that I been neglecting UD products… perhaps I will grab this, /Madison

    1. I don’t often go for UD products either, but with their large releases this year, it was almost impossible to not grab something haha.

  7. I always zero in on the shadows and the lipsticks in these types of posts. I usually don’t wear makeup but when I want to feel fancy or extra put together that day I’ll throw on some eyeliner/shadow and lipstick. The Urban Decay lipstick you featured is a really nice shade! Not too dark, not too bright – perfect for the cooler months.

    1. I actually don’t wear too much makeup either. I go at least three days during the week without makeup. And yes the UD lipstick is sooo pretty!

  8. I absolutely want to try the multistick and highlighter! It’s hard to put away the bronzey summer makeup when it’s still 75 degrees every day, but I have been making an effort to tone it down lately. I’m loving rich mauvey shades as well!

    1. Definitely check them out! They work so well. It’s finallyyyy cooling off here, so I assume it would be in LA too? This morning was the first time we used the heater!

  9. Oh myyyy that Urban Decay lipstick is such a beautiful color! Definitely moody and glam and so perfect for fall. I’m loving all your flat-lay photos here, too! Really well done.

  10. I just received a few of the new Bite me lip shades and I’m so excited to test them out! You winter make-up routine is so fab! I’m so bad with changing my makeup style for different seasons. I usually stick to the same eyeshadow daily (neutrals and browns) and change up my lipstick here and there. But mostly it’s the same. I find it overwhelming to have to think about my outfit and a different makeup look each day lol. Usually fashion is more my cup of tea! Have a great weekend babe!

    xoxo Rina

    1. Oh nice! I love the Bite Beauty lipstick. It is honestly some of the best and most moisturizing lipstick you will ever wear. Let me know your thoughts! I could definitely see how that would be overwhelming haha. To be honest I go for the same look every day mostly, with all these products.

  11. That is such a cool idea! I don’t really change things up for winter, except for some darker lips 😀 I really love colors (and bold ones) year round 😀 However, you really have some totally amazing products here 🙂 Love it! And I should really get my hands on the Essence highlighter 🙂 x

  12. Always love your suggestions! Do explain how you go about the foundation stick… Straight on the face? Brush? Blender? Very intriguing .

Also! Any lip liner suggestions for extremely matte lipstick? Enjoy your holiday

    1. Thanks Lauren! I usually just stoke the foundation stick on my face a good four or five times in the main areas (cheeks, chin, forehead, etc) and then I take a beautyblender and I buff it all out. I actually am not a huge fan of lip liner and don’t use it very often. That being said, I do love the ColourPop ones!!
