I only purchased a single tube of Violet Voss Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade ‘Muse’, so this will be a very short and sweet review! Don’t ya love those?
I honestly do not freaking remember how I found this company. I’m sure it was a result of hours worth of sifting through Instagram tags until I was on that one blogger’s mom’s sister’s feed. Anyway, these colours looked lovely but unfortunately were all out of stock. They did a re-stock a week or so ago and I purchased Muse right away which I was drawn to the most.
I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s really hard to find a liquid lipstick with a good formula, and I am a bit on the fence about this one. The first day I wore it, it wore on my lips really well! Maybe my lips were extra hydrated or something. The second day not so much and I developed the feared white ring around my lips. So first impressions are not set in stone yet. I think I need to wear this a little more to find what works best. First day was fabulous though!
On My Lips
My favorite part about this is the applicator. The applicator is a flat brush so it’s so much easier to handle when applying product. With the flat brush you can really get the edges and cupid’s bow of your lip to look flawless without having to use a lip liner. That being said, I love the way this applies! The formula itself is a little drying, but so are ColourPop’s lippies and it’s usually not a deal breaker for me personally. When i did wear some balm under it the second day, I did notice a white ring showed up pretty fast. So I would recommend wearing these without a balm.
The colour Muse is so pretty. It’s like a muted mauve with grey undertones. They did restock these again so you should be able to purchase this on their site currently. When I purchased mine after the first restock, it sold out pretty fast. So get it while you can if you’re interested.
Need to wear this a little more to see if I really like the formula, but I’m gonna prematurely give this a thumbs up anyway. The colours are pretty and packaging is cute. Applicator is an A+ which is always hard to find.
Would I Purchase This Again?
Yes. I would most relate this formula to ColourPop’s Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick. ColourPop is half the cost of this one, at $6 vs $12 for Violet Voss, so that is something to consider. But I do think I’d like another colour from this collection.
Let me know if you’ve tried Violet Voss yet! Are you okay with drying formulas as long as they are long lasting?
