It’s only 4:29 PM and I am falling asleep at my desk writing this. The last two weeks have been super busy. I managed to do a little traveling and a lot of coffee drinking, so they’ve been a happy two weeks! But busy is busy, amiright? I can’t believe it’s been a few weeks since my last life update!

Let’s get started with this week’s (and last week’s) Instpiration.

For those of you who are new, I like to recap all the Instagram photos I find inspiring throughout the week, and then share them with you guys. And yes I actually save these to my phone!

I just can’t with this Chloe blouse!!!

Two weeks ago I went to LA to explore a bunch of coffee shops and had the best time ever. Really grateful that my current 9-5 job allows me to work wherever I want. In the morning we hit up Verve Coffee in West Hollywood, and then we went to Alfred Tea Room. That space is seriously the cutest! I finally got to have dinner at Gracias Madre which I had been wanting to try for forever. We even got a hike in one morning.

I had also been dying to go to Griffith Observatory! The architecture is right up my alley. I was actually surprised at how easy it was to drive there. Something I never said about any of our other adventures in LA. Then last weekend I was in Temecula for a wedding, but I drove in to San Diego Saturday morning to check out a few coffee shops (duh). I am pretty sure I am a professional coffee drinker at this point.

Some exciting news for you… Do you guys remember when I posed about my visit to Poland to find my family? Well someone reached out to me about it, and it turns out they are a potential cousin (about 90% sure)! I am so obnoxiously excited over it. Someone from Australia also reached out to me because his family is from Dobrzechow as well, though we are not related. It’s crazy that all this hard work and hours of researching has paid off. I still think about my time in Poland at night when I am trying to fall asleep. There’s just so much more to uncover, and it keeps me awake some nights.

I’ve been officially blogging for 9 months tomorrow, and I can’t believe I’ve made it this far. Blogging has actually taught me a good deal about myself. I had no idea how driven I was to publish content and share my experiences with the world. Once I started getting better and better at blogging, I started getting more motivated and dedicated. The amount of dedication I see in myself with this project, was something I literally came to terms with ‘just not having’ in my personality before hand. I can’t believe how wrong I was about myself. This started as a project to get out of my comfort zone, and now it’s changed what I know about myself.

Also, I wanted to thank everyone who entered the Sunday Riley giveaway last week. It was such an honour to get to work with them and give one of my reader’s a little something special. Pretty sure Sunday Riley was one of my dream collaborations! The random number generator selected number 2, and I reached out to the winner this morning. Again, thank you all for following both Sunday Riley and Coat + Coffee on Instagram and entering the giveaway!

I have lots and lots of things planned for the end of the year. Lots of good travel editorials, coffee shops for months thanks to LA and SD, and good skin care reviews and routines.

So two questions (okay probably three):

1. Is there any one topic you enjoy over the other that you want me to write more about?

2. What brands of skin care have you been dying to try but you think are too pricey to pull the trigger on (or if you’re like me, just too lazy)?

3. What are your plans for the weekend?

As always, love you guys and thanks for reading!

-Emily

  1. I actually love all your topics equally, Emily. The way you craft your posts made each a huge pleasure to read so I have no favourites as they are all equally great imo. I want to try something, anything from Omorovicza but god damn, my eyes water just by looking at the price. LOL!

    1. Aw thank you Shireen! I enjoy reading your posts as well. They are so down to earth and never overwhelming, which I really like. And haha at your eyes watering! I am going to check them out. 😉 (my eyes will probably water too)

  2. Loving this life update post babe! I can’t believe you’ve only been blogging for 9 months! The aesthetic of your blog is so cohesive I would have thought it’s been years! Also I love everything you share, such consistently great content. I will have to catch up on the finding your family post as I didn’t know you we’re doing that. That;s one thing I really love about blogging is connecting to other bloggers and getting to know them! How exciting that you’ve found a potential cousin! I love all the travel posts you do so I would say definitely continue with that. I would love to see more outfit posts? But I’m not sure if you’re into that. I just suggest it because duh, I’m mostly a fashion blogger lol. But whatever you’re comfortable with babe! I love everything you put out there!

    1. Thank you Rina! This comment totally made my day! I am over the moon you like the layout of my blog. I always want everything to be perfect haha. I would love to get in to more lifestyle blogging with outfits and such, but I sort of do this thing where I spend all my money on traveling ;p. But I’ve always thought I had the potential to be super fashionable. I just usually don’t put that much effort in! Maybe I’ll consider it one day. Your fashion posts are always the best! I admire you so much for always sharing your looks. It’s a lot of work looking that good consistently!

  4. Emily, I just came across your blog and I love it already!:) The skincare brand I always wanted to try is Dr Hauschka. Even though it’s definitely not the most expensive on the market, it’s pricier than the products I now have in my everyday routine. As for my plans for the weekend, today is our date night with my husband and tomorrow I will be taking some pictures for the blog:) Thanks so much for sharing and have a great day!

    1. Aw thank you Yulia! I am totally going to check out that brand now. I’ve been wanting to review higher skin care items for my readers because I know a lot of people won’t buy them without reviews. And no one wants to buy something if they’re not sure how good it is haha. I hope you have a great date night! I will be working on the blog too tomorrow. Ahhhh the life of a blogger!! ;p

  5. Congrats on 9 months of blogging, girl! And how exciting that a potential relative reached out. That must feel so rewarding and exciting! I am loving this round up of photos, especially your shot of Griffith. It is such a beautiful, interesting place, and that picture definitely does it justice. As for skin care, I keep hearing great things about the Glam Glow mud mask, but cannot get myself to spend the money on it. The brand Tula is one I recently discovered, too, and it’s pricy, but amazing!

    1. Thank you Kathryn! It is super exciting to have someone reach out. I love the Tula brand! I think there are a bunch of discount codes floating around online somewhere haha. I’ve heard of the Glam Glow, but a few of my favorite YouTubers didn’t really like it, so I’m hesitant to purchase it. 🙁

  6. Hard to believe you’ve only been blogging for 9 months. I assumed you’ve been doing this for years. I’m a new reader, but I’ve been enjoying your posts so far. I really like the photo inspiration. Those pumpkins are too cute! And your coffee photos always leave me drooling!

  7. Oh wow! Nine months! I thought you’d been at it for longer. Pow! Go girl! I’m shattered I didn’t try Gracias Madre. That was one place I was dying to eat at. My cousin in LA is also vegan so we totally should have. Groan. Next time. I loved Griffith, though I didn’t find the drive easy at all bahahahaha. We did go in the evening where it’s pitch black (I don’t think there were any street lamps from memory).

  8. What a gorgeous inspiration roundup! The flatlay featured first in this post is totally perfect and some of your architectural picks are incredible. Swooning over that sheer black waterfall blouse as well…

  9. Your style and choice of photos for these Quick Edits are so ascetically satisfying! lol How awesome about your family! I hope you uncover even more in your search! I’ve always wanted to try La Mer. I mean, the most beautiful woman in Hollywood swear by it, but it’s NEVER going to happen. I would never let myself shill out that type of money for a facial cream. lol

    1. Thank you Kiki! I actually have yet to try an La Mer. I think I might have to now! I want to try high end products so my readers can get good and unbiased reviews of them. That way you don’t feel as guilty spending the money if they actually work.

  10. I would’ve never guessed you’ve only been blogging for 9mths now, your blog and content is so polished and has such a voice of its own so early on, which is amazing, girl! I wish you continued growth and success, it’s a pleasure to read what you share! I love the inspo you shared with us, especially Aimee’s (love her) and the photo with the rings and the one with the sunnies, so lovely! As for the kind of content I’d like to see from you in the future, that’s pretty tough because I do enjoy whatever you share, as previously mentioned, but I guess I’d say both your travel ventures and skin care are always particularly interesting/informative. Also, congrats on getting in touch with a cousin, I remember reading that post! I hope you have the best start to your week, beauty, and thanks so much for sharing!

    1. Thank you Jalisa! That’s such a nice comment! I totally love your blog, so that’s means a lot. You are one of the few fashion blogs I want to actually read, haha. I definitely want to focus more on travel and skin care. I think there’s so much makeup out there, but not too many blogs diving in to skin care. Thanks so much for your continued support!! Hope you have a great week!

Btw, I don’t think I ever knew what is your 9-5 and how are you able to travel and work while doing so? So cool!

    1. Griffith was so beautiful! I hope you get to go back and visit. I work in online advertising. So my job is mainly online and I don’t have to talk to anyone haha. I just look at numbers all day, which means I can work remotely anywhere.
