Sunday Riley C.E.O. Moisturizer

I’d like to introduce you all to the newest product in the Sunday Riley family: the Sunday Riley C.E.O. Moisturizer. More formally known as the Sunday Riley C.E.O. C + E AnitOXIDANT Protect + Repair Moisturizer, the name alone made me quite curious. I purchased this as soon as it came out because I had high hopes for this product, and I wanted to test it out asap! Also, someone please take the Sephora iPhone app away from me stat. Thanks.

Product and Ingredient Breakdown

C.E.O. is said to be for all skin types, and has a high concentration of Vitamin C. The moisturizer claims it protects and repairs “the visible effects of aging and pollution exposure with high-potency, advanced vitamin C.” One of my favorite things about this product is how it fights the look of the sun and pollution damage on the face. It also includes Exopolysaccharides, which protects your skin against pollution exposure. Lime Pearl Extract and Bisabolol finish off this product, which are both great for sensitive skin and create a calming effect. C.E.O. comes in a plastic jar, meaning it’s easily exposed to the elements, but it does at least hit my travel-friendly wishlist! Overall, some really great ingredient combinations to love.

My Experience

I purchased this just after the holidays, and about two days after it was released. I seriously couldn’t wait to get my hands on it! The packaging was such a gorgeous orange, and the name sold me too. Let me give you a little note on the packaging though. I am a little disappointed it isn’t as nice as some of her others. On the one hand, I do love that it’s plastic because that makes it travel friendly for me, but on the other hand it just feels a little cheap. For the price I wanted something a little fancier like a glass jar, or even a bottle with a pump to prevent exposure. It’s not something that will keep me from repurchasing, but just as a side note.

I used this nearly every single night for the first two weeks, and currently I am using it about every other night. The product says it works great under makeup, but I am very picky with makeup moisturizers. I didn’t wear this under my makeup at any point during testing. The texture is very whipped and rich. In fact, I just love plopping my finger in the jar (yes I use my finger, sue me) and then picking it up so it creates a whipped ‘peak’ on my finger. It reminds me of meringue! Okay, that’s totally not important. Anyway, the texture is quite lovely and absolutely perfect for a nighttime moisturizer.

Around the third day is when I really noticed a difference when I woke up in the morning. My face seemed so much less aged and less beaten up by life in general. It honestly looked like my face had been restored from a month’s worth of pollution. I absolutely hate quoting products word for word, but I literally can’t find any other way to describe it! My face was so much clearer, and had visibly less pollution and sun damage. I am not sure if my face has gotten any brighter, as it sort of looks the same in that category. However, C.E.O. does have a resorting effect that I absolutely love.

The scent is really pleasant to me, but I also took it upon myself to read some of the negative reviews. A lot of people said the scent smelled like fake oranges. To me it smells like orange blossom and it’s not too overpowering with fragrance. I am super picky about scents, but I really enjoy this one!

Side note: I like to also read negative reviews so I can inform you guys about other thoughts on the product, and let you know if I experienced the same thing. I never read negative reviews (or any reviews for that matter) before I test out a product. I want to remain 100% unbiased! But just letting you know why I do end up reading those reviews.

Who This Would Be Good For

If you have $65 extra dollars lying around, this would be good for you. Okay in all seriousness (but I am also not really kidding about that last part), I think this is best for anyone who wants to restore their skin. Typically the people who need some repairing and restoring have more mature skin. This would also be especially good for someone who walks or bikes to work in a big city. I could visibly see that the sun damage and the pollution had deteriorated from my face after using C.E.O. As a precaution, I would not really recommend this for people with sensitive skin. There were quite a few reviewers saying this could have caused their breakouts, or it made their skin burn a little. While I did not experience this, it’s something to consider.

Final Thoughts

I definitely think there are some pros and cons to this product. If I am being flat out honest, my initial reaction and the final thought I want to write is: YES, LOVED IT. It’s true, I do really love this product. However, there are a few things that I am going to be a bit critical of because it’s Sunday Riley and I do expect so much. One, the plastic jar packaging is kind of sucky. Two, I don’t think this did anything to combat the dullness of my skin, which is something the product claims. Again, if you’re going to claim it does A, B, and C, then it should do them all, rather than just A and B. So while I love this product for A and B, I have to think of my readers and let you guys know they are missing the mark on C.

Sunday Riley C.E.O. Moisturizer

This is truly a unique product, because I’ve never found a moisturizer quite like this one that completely restores my skin to neutral. I am very keen on the smell, and smells are usually a big deal for me as I’m very sensitive. I actually hate the scent of citrus too! So I was very happy this didn’t smell straight up like an orange peel. I think this is a really great start for the Sunday Riley vitamin C line, and word on the street is that there will be a few more products releasing in this range. While this product is a little pricey, I would definitely purchase this again.

I hope you guys enjoyed this review of C.E.O., the newest product to hit the Sunday Riley family. Be on the lookout for more releases and more reviews when the times comes! Would you purchase this product for yourself?

Sunday Riley

    1. Check this one out Jessica! It’s really nice. No doubt there are so many on the market, it’s almost overwhelming at times. πŸ™‚

  1. I don’t know where I’ve been but I’ve never heard of this brand before – it looks amazing! The price is steep but if it does the job I think it could be worth it πŸ™‚

  2. Oh I really want to try that. This is actually my first time hearing about this moisturizer. Imagine using this over the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery concentrate!? Because that stuff also makes a change overnight. I am definitely intrigued, and I think I can get past the fact it doesn’t do much for dullness (I can use a serum) and that it has a plastic jar (that would be nice though).
Also the name is genius. I can imagine the marketing team going muahahaha LOL but seriously the name is great.

    Samantha Series

    1. I agree. I use a serum that I love for my dullness, so I am like okay, I can get past this. Haha the name is too cute for sure! Good marketing. All their products have cute names. πŸ™‚

  3. Ok first off I totally laughed out loud when I read “Also, someone please take the Sephora iPhone app away from me stat.” Apps make shopping so easy it’s horrible – I’ve made so many unneeded purchases this way haha!

Sunday Riley is new to my radar after getting the Tidal in my Box of Style, and honestly I love that moisturizer so much I am dying to try their other products. The CEO sounds incredible – in my younger years I was horrible with sunscreen so I hope this would help refresh my face. Also just read your review for UFO which I think I need too. I wish the price point wasn’t so high, but I’m definitely going to start saving up my pennies for these!

    1. Haha yes! Apps make it so incredibly easy ugh. I STILL have yet to try Tidal and I really want to! I think I would love it from how people rave about it. It sucks she is so pricey! But the quality of ingredients is really good and all my products have lasted a while. It’s definitely an investment haha. Thanks for the comment Annessa!

  4. This is such a thorough review, so thanks Emily! Sadly my skin tends to be pretty sensitive, so I probably won’t be trying it out. It does sound like an overall great product, though…although I totally agree, for the price you would think the packaging would be better than just plastic.

    Kathryn β€’

    1. You’re totally welcome! Even I get a slight tingling sometimes. I think it would still be okay, but I just wanted to err on the side of caution haha. It’s definitely the Vitamin C in it.

  5. I personally don’t believe in a skincare product which combates dullness, to me, it’s one of those fancy claims which aren’t achievable. This moisturizer sounds really lovely though, restoring my skin is definitely what I’m looking for in my evening skincare routine! I also agree about the packaging, for the price, plastic does feel a little bit cheap! Lovely review!

    1. Thank you! I think a lot of products claim they can do too many things. Again, I’d rather get the 100% honest claims, even if the product only does one thing. So definitely on the same page!

  6. So pleased to hear this moisturiser impressed – I love the product’s name! The Orange Blossom fragrance sounds beautiful, and I love that you read online negative reviews when sharing your own review by the way, as it means you’re able to address them – the perfect review! πŸ™‚

  7. I really love how in-depth and thorough you are with your reviews, now THAT’S what I want when I’m researching a product!

I don’t own any Sunday Riley products simply because of the price but I may have to reconsider with this one as you clearly loved it!

    Musings & More

    1. Oh yay! I am glad you liked it! I always want to be thorough so that’s a really great compliment. And I know it sucks how steep the price is. Luckily I’ve loved every single thing I’ve purchased from them, but it does hurt a little bit inside! Haha.

    1. It’s really worth it, as long as you get the right product for your skin type! I do find her products are not as universal as other lines. Each product she makes is sort of tailored to a specific type of skin. πŸ™‚

  8. I’ve been wanting to pick this up. Thanks for the honest review! It sounds amazing, but I do wish it came in different packaging because it is Sunday Riley and it is $65. So glad it worked for you! I’ve gotta try this one out, and girl, the Sephora app is d a n g e r o u s!
