If you’ve been to San Francisco, then you’ve probably heard the name Sightglass. It’s one of the most well-recognized independent coffee chains in San Francisco. To even call it a chain is kind of misleading. Sightglass is much more than a chain. Instead, the coffee shop with a cult following focuses on knowing the story behind the coffee, and it’s clearly a recipe for success.
Each and every time I’m in SF, I have to stop in and get a pour over or a latte from Sightglass. This last time was no different. Sightglass has five locations, but I had yet to visit their location in the Mission. So off I went!
The exterior is particularly charming. It’s a beautiful teal-like colour. There are massive windows that resemble a warehouse, and a decently long bench outside (maybe two) that’s great to sit and enjoy the bay air.
This particular location is absolutely massive behind the bar. However, it fills up quite fast in terms of customer seating. We sat in the only spot that was open and make-shifted a table out of a stool. As soon as we did that, I felt like their stools had a deliberate purpose to serve as both things, and I love thoughtful little touches like that.
Sightglass is cozy and inviting on the inside, with warm orange tones. One of my favorite parts is the huge leather booth that wraps around the space and makes for ample seating. It may even force you to strike up a convo with your neighbor. The white tiled floors are gorgeous and they come together to create a beautiful pattern in the center of the space.
Lots of plants cover the nooks toward the ceiling, and it creates an earthy vibe that echoes the warm space perfectly. I could easily spend my days here working remotely from my laptop. I ordered a latte and it was absolutely perfect!
If you are ever in San Francisco, stopping at this location is a must! Not only will you get an amazing coffee, but it’s super Instagrammable as well.
