Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil

That was a brief little break! Welcome back to the continuation of my Ole Henriksen review. Today I am going to be covering the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil. In my last review I talked about the Truth Serum, and how beneficial it was for dark spots and hyperpigmentation. The Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil was the second product included in the limited edition duo that I purchased from Sephora.

Product and Ingredient Breakdown

This product contains pure rose hips seed oil. It is 100% concentrated, and it can be used to treat aging and restore skin to a more youthful look. Rose hips seed oil is an amazing ingredient because it’s packed with vitamin A, vitamin C, and essential fatty acids. Basically, all the goods you want to keep your skin youthful and fresh! Furthermore, this is a bare-boned and fairly simple product, which is great for anyone looking to take a more natural approach to skin care.  It has a total of four ingredients.

One thing I should mention is that I cannot find this anywhere on the Sephora site. Rather, I believe this is sold exclusively on the Ole Henriksen website. Sephora does sell one that is another vitamin C oil, but beware, it is not the same as this one. This one clearly says ‘pure rose hips seed oil’ on the product. It’s rather confusing! The two products look identical. Here are the differences:

The Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil (rose hips) – What this review is on.

The Pure Truth Youth Activation Oil (vitamin C) – Sephora product.

My Experience

I began using this after I tested out the Truth Serum, and I was pretty much in love at first use. I loved the way my skin looked the next morning. It definitely gave me a youthful, healthy glow, and was very light weight on my skin. A word of warning though, make sure you rub this entirely in to your skin. I am afraid a pat down will not work. If you do not completely rub this in to your skin, you’ll know, because you’ll look like an oompa loompa. Also, it will rub off on your new Parachute pillowcase you just purchased. After I got the hint, I began to rub it completely in until there was no trace of its colour on my skin, which seemed to do the trick.

For these reasons, I would also only recommend use at night. I really couldn’t imagine wearing this in the day, but maybe if you only used a very small amount. I use two pumps at night just like I do with the Truth Serum. One of my favorite parts, yet again, is the smell! This smells like PEZ to me. Yes, the children’s candy that comes out of a dispenser. Ole Henriksen is just killing it with these childhood scents, I swear! I love rubbing this all over my face and taking a big whiff. Ahhhhh, PEZ.

Who This Would Be Good For

People that follow my directions. In all seriousness, it doesn’t say anything about the bright and potent red/orange colour on the website. You need to rub this in. I could easily see someone hating this product if they aren’t using it right, or complaining of stains. Otherwise, this is great for anyone looking for a natural skin serum that restores skin to its youthfulness. You really can’t beat four ingredients.

Final Thoughts

For the price of $45, you have yourself a really solid product that will last you a few months. This was my first encounter with pure rose hips seed oil, and I can definitely say I am a fan now. The results are really really stunning. I love the way this smells, how travel friendly it is, and the youthful glow it gives to my skin while reducing the signs of aging. Definitely a great purchase! So far I am pretty impressed with Ole Henriksen.

    1. Totally! When I first put it on my face I was like holy moly! Haha. These were my first two products I tried, and I agree that they seem like a great brand.

  1. ‘People that follow my directions’ made me laughed! Haha! I don’t think I’ll be giving this a try either because 1. I have a shit ton of skincare to try 2. I plan to pick up some Asian skincare in the next few months 3. I’m on spending ban till April (sob!)

    Great review, Emily!

    1. Haha glad to have made you laugh! Gotta keep my sense of humour. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I assume the spending ban is courtesy of the husband?? Hahaha.

  2. Ooh this sounds amazing! It’s good to know about little things like the color, though. Weird that they didn’t mention it! I’ve never really used oils in my skincare routine before… is this something you would use in place of a serum, or do you use in addition to a serum? Great review, as always!

    1. Great question. I prefer only using oils as night, and then I may go for a serum during the day if I don’t wear makeup. I don’t mix the two though, but you totally can! It’s just preference for me. You should definitely check out some oils, they have done wonders for my oily skin! I know that sounds counter intuitive, but avoiding oils is actually something you shouldn’t do (not that you are haha, but just in general).

  3. I’ve seen/heard products with rose hip oil but this will be the first time I’m encountering one that is 100%. Glad you had a great experience with the product. As for beauty oils, I’m currently using the Body Shop Oils of Life which actually has rosehip seed oil as well and so far, I’m liking it. I wonder how one that’s 100% rosehip seed oil work on me. Hmm…

    1. I need to check that one out! I am not sure how much of a difference you’d feel with the 100%? But I have to admit, it’s my first time using rose hips, so not too sure on the subject!

  4. I definitely need to try this (or anything that has pure rose hips seed oil). I’m not sure if it’ll be available over here but I’ll look into it. Thanks for the FYI about rubbing it in. Though I’m so lazy, I doubt I’ll get that right. I’m used to discoloured sheets at this stage. Started using Bondi Sands tanning (which isn’t too bad) and it has a habit of rubbing off on my white sheets bahahahaha

    1. Haha I hear ya! Honestly my pillows are totally stained too. Also from benzyl peroxide (damn pimples). So it’s not that big of a deal to me anymore either, but I know some ladies will want to know. I’ve heard so many good things about Bondi Sands!!
