The day is here. I have officially opened my services for professional trip planning! You’ll notice a new tab at the top of my navigation bar that says ‘Trip Planner’. There you will find all the information about my trip planning services, such as pricing and how I go about planning a special and personalized trip for you. Let me plan your next trip! Introducing Trip Planner

I wanted to take a little second to introduce this new feature on my blog, since it’s very exciting for me and it’s been a passion of mine for a long time. It’s still surreal to think I’ve been blogging for almost a year come January. I never thought I’d keep up with this blog or make so many friends. Trip Planning was something I always knew I was good at and I wanted to incorporate in to my blog at some point.

For the last few months, I had been heavily considering the thought of advertising as a way to finally monetize my blog. Let’s be real though, advertising is that big elephant in the room no one wants to talk about. So let’s talk about it. There is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to make a financial gain in doing something you put hours and hours in to every single week. Advertising is a great way to monetize your blog if it doesn’t affect user experience and makes sense for you to invest in. Now that that’s out of the way… I don’t think advertising is for me just yet. Instead I am hoping that by offering trip planning services, I can monetize my blog while doing something I genuinely enjoy, and not affecting the aesthetics of my blog whatsoever.

Introducing Trip Planner

How does it work? I send you a short questionnaire (okay, it’s medium-length, shhhh) that consists of a series of questions and multiple choice answers. You will then fill it out so I can get to know your preferences on everything from dining to daily activities. For instance, some people hate museums and prefer adventure activities. Some people dislike seafood and prefer Italian food. All these things will help me to get to know you better and plan out the perfect trip for you. I plan trips out per day, and I always have multiple choices for the day so you can choose depending on your mood. Proximity is also taken in to account for daily activities and dining. Basically, I have you covered!

In honor of this new part of my blog, I will be doing two things. First, I have a series that I’ll be posting of Things You Probably Missed in Paris, London, and New York. Paris will go live this week! It’s been a while since I’ve done a travel series and I thought this would be a great kick off. I’ll go over eight sights and activities in each of these cities that are often missed by tourists.

Second, I want to plan a day in someone’s trip for free! Are you going anywhere soon? Want to experience a day of traveling research-free, and on me? Then shoot me an email at emily@coatandcoffee.com and let me know what trip you have planned, and I will shoot you the questionnaire. This is in exchange for a testimonial. Looking for possibly 1-3 people for now!

Thank you everyone for the support this year, and feel free to reach out with any questions. Carry on now, and happy travels!

  1. Congrats, Emily! I’m so excited that you found a way to monetize that works for you and is something you love! Ads work for some people, which is great, and there’s a place for them for sure, but it’s always sad when a blog sort of loses its own feel and vibe because of all the different ads. I need to come up with a destination now so I can use your trip planning 😉

  2. That sounds like an awesome little venture – I know that I personally get so stressed out when it comes to planning trips. Like it’s exciting, but there’s SO MANY THINGS to research. And that’s usually what shies me away from doing it.
If I was planning to travel anytime soon I’d definitely hit you up, but I probably won’t be for a while. Will have to keep this in mind though!

  3. There’s NOTHING WRONG with monetizing your blog as long as you stay true and honest which I find most bloggers whom I follow do anyway. And yay to new series and trip planning service! We are not going anywhere anytime soon, probably not even next year as we are hemorrhaging money out of our arses because we’re having our home build from scratch but I promise as soon as we plan to go for one, I’ll reach out to you!

    1. I totally agree Shireen! That’s so amazing you are having your home built from scratch! I’ve heard it can get quite pricey and it almost never stays on budget haha. Well if you ever take a trip, maybe I can at least plan one day for you. I’d love to do that! 🙂

  4. This is such a cool and unique idea! In my family I’m the only one who loves extensively researching for our trips, my family sees it as a hassle. This would be the perfect service from them 😀 I can’t wait to see your Paris post! I went when I was younger but I would really love to go again sometime soon 🙂 Good luck with this project!

    1. Thank you Mili! And yes it would be great for your family. Those are the exact people that I want to help, who view trip planning as a hassle! Haha. I also want to make sure people are seeing the best spots and eating the best food. It’s a passion of mine. 🙂

  7. Oh man, this is the absolute best thing to find on your blog today! It fits your whole blog concept so well and is clearly something you’re both passionate about as well as knowledgeable in. I checked out your page and for what you offer it’s really affordable! I don’t have a trip planned yet but I might go away from my anniversary after the new year so I’ll keep you in mind. Good luck with everything Emily!

  8. This is amazing Emily! I will definitely be taking you up on the offer of helping me plan my next trip. I totally agree with you 100% though…putting so much time and effort into our blogs should require some type of income back, even though we enjoy what we do, it is still very time consuming! I know the trip planning will be great for you and can’t wait to hear more about it.
