Finally! You guys keep asking on Instagram and on Coat + Coffee, so here’s how I edit my photos using Lightroom.ย This is a fairly quick tutorial on some of my favorite and most used tools in Lightroom! Super excited to finally share this with youย since my editing style has been the most asked about characteristic of my blog, in terms of questions and comments.

Here are some examples:

Here's How I Edit My Photos Using Lightroom

This tutorial is assuming that you already know some standard bits about Lightroom, like how to import photos and other super basic stuff. This is also great for people who may be a little intimidated about using some of the tools, as I think I cover a few of the ones that can often be overwhelming.

This is not a tutorial on how to use Lightroom. Rather, this is strictly how I edit my photos and how I use Lightroom personally. But I talk more about this in my introduction.

Please leave me any comments or questions that come up as you’re watching. Would be happy to answer any questions you guys have!

Enjoy!

  1. Loved the video Emily, it was super helpful! For some reason I’ve always found Lightroom intimidating so I stuck with just Photoshop to edit, but I really like how much you can do in the saturation section! I’ll have to see if there’s a similar feature in photoshop, but if not I’ll have to give Lightroom a go. Thanks so much for sharing your tips!

    1. You’re welcome! Once you learn it it’s not so bad. I think there’s more you can do in lightroom in terms of messing with the colour! So you may like it more. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I’ve definitely been one of those (many!) people who adore your photos and wonder how you get them looking so crisp so I’m so glad you’ve done this! You might even have persuaded me to ditch photoshop! ;-D

  4. Perfect! I moved to Lightroom from Photoshop mid last year and it has been such a struggle. I need to watch more videos but so far I’ve really had trouble editing photos. I feel like I continuously butcher them. Thanks for this tutorial. There were a few menus I didn’t even know existed/was desperately trying to avoid hahahaha! Have you thought about selling your presets? I mean this is moving into a whole new area and all but the amount of presets you’ve created this could also be a possibility. Just sayin’ ;o)

    1. Thank you Sonia! I only thought about it for a second haha. Maybe sometime in the future! I feel like mine aren’t as good as other people’s to be selling. But maybe that’s just in my head! ;p
