Last week I shared my current night time skin care routine with you, and today I am excited to share my morning routine! I really can’t decide which routine I like more. My morning routine is definitely more robust, but there’s also something about prepping your skin for the night with oils that makes me feel so happy inside. That’s when you know you’re addicted to skin care, right? Here are all my favorite products I currently have on rotation (minus a few) for my morning skin care routine.

Boots Botanics Micellar Water

Pre-Cleanse: Boots Botanics All Bright Micellar Water | HERE

Since most of you know from my last post that I wake up at 5:30 am for the gym, this is my first step in my morning routine. I wanted something quick to get off the night’s oils, so I started using a little micellar water in the morning before my gym routine. Depending on how dry your skin is, you might prefer some moisturizer to hit the gym with instead. My skin is very oily so this works great for me and doesn’t dry out my skin after all the sweat. It doesn’t sting your eyes at all and it’s super gentle. This was a random buy for me at Target (isn’t everything?) but I will be repurchasing!

Tarte Frxxxtion Stick

Exfoliate: Tarte Frxxxtion Stick | HERE

Okay, aside from the fact that this is the worst name ever because I can never remember how many freaking X’s are in the name (I feel like I shouldn’t have to, I mean wtf Tarte), I love this charcoal stick for after the gym. I don’t use this every day after the gym because I don’t like to over exfoliate, but I’d say I use this about three times a week. The exfoliation is so gentle and the stick is so handy! You could just throw this in your gym bag and go! I use this at home, but it is very portable.

Cleanse: Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk or Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel | HERE & HERE

After I’ve exfoliated is when I start my main cleanse. If I didn’t exfloliate, then I start my morning routine with these guys after I’ve gotten out of the shower. I love both these cleansers equally and I rotate them every other day or so. They are both perfect for morning cleansers because they are super gentle, they are both hydrating, they have good texture, and they smell absolutely divine. A good fresh scent that makes you ready for the day is a huge deal to me. Both these will have you awake, thoroughly cleansed, and feeling so soft! They are also very affordable cleansers.

Pixi Glow Tonic

Tone: Pixi Glow Tonic | HERE

This is a cult product by now and a staple in most girl’s routines I think. I remember when I first heard about Pixi beauty and I ran to Target to pick it up! This is a phenomenal toner that actually produces results and is affordable. This never stings my skin or drys it out. In fact, it leaves my skin feeling more nourished. It has definitely helped me with hyper pigmentation as well. If you haven’t tried this yet, definitely do. The best part is that it’s quite affordable for the quality, and it’s sold at Target. Which means you can pick it up with the other 234 impulse buys. Ladies you know…

First Aid Beauty

Eye Cream: First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy or Shiseido White Lucent Anti-Dark Circles Eye Cream | HERE  & HERE

Again, these are two products I’ve been rotating with each other about every other day. I prefer the First Aid Beauty eye cream over the Shiseido eye cream, but the Shiseido eye cream was expensive so I plan on finishing it off. I don’t really notice that either provide any long term benefits. The First Aid Beauty eye cream I like because it adds some immediate brightness, but as far as results over time, I think it’s all a little far fetched. The Shiseido one works great for moisturizing my under eye area, but does nothing for my dark circles. If you’re considering either of these, definitely go with First Aid Beauty. I love this eye cream for immediate results. The Shiseido one I wrote a lengthy review on here.

Clinique Moisture Surge

Facial Spray: Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray | HERE

I don’t use this every day, but I do use it if I feel like I need a little extra moisture for the day! I love how refreshing this one feels. While I don’t notice any long term results, it’s a nice product to have around when I’m freshening up. Sometimes I like to spray a little after my makeup is on for an extra dewey look. Facial sprays are one of those products that I think are a little gimmicky and I don’t necessarily need, but I keep them around because it’s fun to spray stuff on your face. Duh.

Murad Hydro-Dynamic Duo

Moisturizer: Murad Hydro-Dynamic Moisturizing Duo (2 products) | HERE or at Sephora HERE & HERE

I love love love these products, and I love them in conjunction with each other even more. These are by far the best moisturizing and skin firming products I’ve ever used and I cannot recommend them enough. That being said, these are essssspensive. EXPENSIVE. The Quenching Essence is a hydrating serum that you’re supposed to apply prior to the Ultimate Moisture. These combined hold the moisture in your skin like no other. I’ve received wonderful plumping results that even made my boyfriend comment on how much more youthful my skin looked! The smell is gorgeous and if I could describe the feel and texture in one word, it would be: luxurious. Pssst, until September 28th you can get 20% off  + free shipping on with the code FAMILY.

Skin Care Routine

So this concludes my morning routine. Next up is a cup of coffee and then I rush off to work (because I am usually late). I hope this has been helpful to you and if you are considering buying any of these products do let me know! I am always happy to point you in the right direction as skin care is a passion of mine. Overall, I really just try to have fun with my routines. I like to switch up my products every day and make my routines fun so I actually look forward to them every morning.

What product is in your morning skin care routine that you can’t live without? I am always looking for new things to try, so let me know your holy grails ladies! Leave me a comment below.

*Disclaimer: I completely hate doings these, but just wanted to say this is what works for me and the products I love to use on my face. I have oily skin and am prone to breakouts. Lately I get many compliments on my skin, and this is the routine I use. My skin has never looked better (ever).

  1. I currently hate the products I use. I’ve been a long time (forced) user of proactive. I say forced because everytime I try to take myself off of it my face goes haywire and I break out like a pubescent teen. I have heard really great things about the Murad and Caudelier line but I can’t bring myself to try another regime because of how it always ends up.. disappointment. I swear I have the most picky skin I feel like it must have a brain of it’s own or something because it never listens to what I want it to do. Sigh.. so jealous of those that never need to wash their face and have glowing skin. Is it possible to have a face transplant? lol

    xoxo Rina

    1. That makes me so sad to hear you hate the products you use! Ugh I wish I could just give you a bunch of stuff to try, but I also know the feeling of not wanting to branch out in fear of your skin freaking out. I’ve definitely been there. I actually used Proactive for a very very long time, and I even still have some of their acne gel in my cabinet! I use it like once every two weeks if I feel like I just a good dose of acne fighting ingredients. The Murad line is really really amazing and I want to buy more stuff. You definitely have to wash your face to have great skin haha. Sometimes it could be you’re not removing your makeup well. Not sure if you do this, but try doing a pre-cleanse and then another cleanse to really get rid of everything. Also, even though I have acne prone and oily skin, I noticed that when I used more moisture and oil products (the products I was told my whole life to fear) my skin actually started looking better. Anyway, just my experience! I hope that helps a little.

  2. So many great products here! That charcoal stick sounds amaaaazing (not even going to attempt to spell the name). I still haven’t tried Glow Tonic (why? No idea) but really want to. I’ve also heard great things about First Aid Beauty Eye Dury Triple Remedy and want to try it next time I run out of eye cream. You have a great routine, thank you for sharing!

    1. I only use this on my face! I really really like it because it’s gentle and isn’t a freaking mess to deal with like other exfoliators are.

    1. Oh I’ll have to try those two! Thank you! I haven’t tried anything else by them except some moisturizer which I thought was just okay. Adding these to my list!

  3. You always make me laugh while reading, girlie; I love the humor you incorporate into your posts, it really enhances your tone as a writer and makes for such an enjoyable reading experience 🙂 After reading your thoughts on this awesome skincare routine you have (girl, you put me to shame with my 3 products, haha) I think I’m most intrigued by the Murad products. I mean, who wouldn’t want younger, plumper looking skin!? I don’t believe I’ve ever tried his products before and you know what’s so funny is that one of my mother’s best friend’s husband is a doctor, who’s best friends with Dr. Murad, so cool, right!? Haha! Anyway, thanks so much for sharing, gorgeous, and I hope you’re having the best week so far!

    1. Aw that is cool!! Dr. Murad seems like such a nice guy too. I am always intrigued by products invented by doctors and they are usually very good. The Murad sale ends today, so maybe check a few items out! Out of the two I posted, I would definitely grab the step 2 moisturizer. It’s sooo luxurious. Thank you for the nice compliments too, you are seriously too kind!! I just try and write how I am in person, and I definitely have a wit about me haha. Life is boring when taken too seriously. 🙂

  4. I love reading about skincare routines and learn what works for others and what products are in their rotation so I really enjoyed reading this, Emily, thank you for sharing! Pixi Glow Tonic didn’t work for me, well didn’t work is didn’t do anything special for my skin. I wish I saw the heaven open and the angels sing like many others who swore by it but nada…nothing for me. 🙁

    1. Aw that’s such a bummer! I mean I’m sure by now you’ve found better toners that work for you, but I love the Pixi one! Crazy how everyone’s skin is a little bit different.

  5. That Tarte product sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out. But you’re right. What’s up with all the x’s? Hah! I love Mario Badescu products. They’re so gentle. I’ll have to check out that Pixi Glow Tonic. I’ve heard so much about it and keep meaning to try it out. Seems to be the it product to have. Nice roundup!

    1. Same! I love how gentle the Mario Badescu products are, and at a really decent price. And I have no idea what’s up with all the X’s, but they are so annoying!

  6. I like what you said, a good morning scent gets you ready for the day. I don’t necessarily have a skin care routine, I usually just use a cleanser to get rid of the makeup. would love to try out clinique products

  7. This is such an amazing and helpful list, thank you for sharing! I’m always on the lookout for new skincare products to try so it was nice getting to know your morning routine. 🙂 I really like the look of that Tarte stick, is it good for oily skin? I have to say though, the name is ridiculous… Why would they do that!! I’ve also heard such amazing things about that Pixi tonic, but have yet to try it. It’s definitely on my wishlist, though! Thank you for sharing, hun. x x

    1. I think the Tart stick is great for all skin types. It’s not too harsh and is very hydrating, even for dryer skin. It’s absolutely perfect for oily skin. Definitely check out the Pixi Glow Tonic! It’s sooo great. Glad you liked the list Kay!

  8. Love this post! I tend to be more dry combination skin so it’s interesting to see what products you use. I just picked up a few skincare items from Lush(my first time trying them believe it or not) and am excited to see how they work for me. Also, after working for Clinique for 2.5 years, I have literally tried everything of theirs, including the Moisture Surge Face Spray(which I have two bottles of), lol. I love to use it when I’m at the beach and need a quick refreshing mist or after a good workout.

  9. Agree about the strange name hah; but overall this seems like a very nice skincare routine. I need to try that Boots Micellar Water, I am always looking for something new in that department! Great post!

    1. Yay, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. I love facial sprays too. I feel like they don’t do much, but they are just so nice to have! I feel so fancy haha.
