This oil is all the talk right now, and I am happy to report that I actually purchased this right away instead of slacking. I think I was in shock with all of the five star reviews that I didn’t need any convincing whatsoever. It definitely has to be one of the top rated products on Spehora right now. This is the Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra Clarifying Face Oil, and it’s absolutely brilliant.
I just wanted to get my thoughts about it out right away, and let you know that this will be a positive review. That way all the people who don’t bother to actually read reviews can get on with their generic “great! sounds like a nice product” comments. ARE YOU HAPPY NOW? It is a nice product and you don’t have to read any further if you don’t like. Was that a mini rant? Oops. Moving on…
Basically, you need this stuff. I won’t go in to the ingredient details because they are all listed here under the ingredients tab, so you can have a look if you’d like. The main thing that caught my eye was the Salicylic Acid. I have acne prone skin and it’s usually associated with stress, so I am always looking for products to help with that but aren’t drying to the skin. Another thing I noticed off the bat was the tea tree oil included as well. This is also a great at killing bacteria on the skin, which is what can cause acne (not dirt or makeup, contrary to popular belief).
When I finally found this alien-looking product at Sephora (which is quite properly named), I pulled out the dropper and plopped some on my skin and began to take a big wiff. I literally was so turned off, I had to walk away for a second. You guys, this smelled sooo bad to me I wanted to gag. It had the most earthy scent and I hated it. I thought to myself “how can I possibly purchase this?” I was really nervous and began to look at other products. Long story short (and after much time pacing back and forth), I Obviously ended up purchasing it. I just couldn’t get past how good the reviews were and I was determined to try and get over the scent.
Guess what? I got over it. The scent dissipates after a while until it is almost completely gone, which I was so happy about. As far as the initial application, I am learning to love the smell of what I call ‘earth’. Which is what I also happen to refer to matcha tea as (gross).
So how does this actually work? Well it works brilliantly. I usually test a product out for three weeks in most circumstances, but I noticed a difference with this after two nights. Two bloody nights. Before bed I massage about four – six drops of this on my face after my cleansing routine. What I love is that it’s a dry oil and doesn’t leave your skin greasy. By the time I wake up the oil has soaked all the way in to my skin and I am left with glowing blemish-free skin. Even my mom noticed how healthy my skin was looking after night two.
Another benefit to using this was my skin got rid of some discolouration. This is also a claim of the face oil as listed on Sephora. Literally every claim they made was met in my opinion. I will say that I didn’t feel like this minimized my pores the more I used it. Though I had/have been using this straight for a good two and a half weeks every single night. My pores looked fantastic for the first week and a half or so. That’s the only real thing I noticed that could be a downer, but I have a suspicion I need to ease up for a few days and apply some other oils.
And lastly, the thing that’s on everyone’s mind: price tag. This is essssspensive. But yes, it is worth absolutely every penny in my opinion. This is definitely a splurge and I will be repurchasing this again and again and as long as my adult acne is here to stay, *scowls*. You can find it at Sephora for $80.
What has been your best skin care splurge? And have you tried Sunday Riley U.F.O. yet? If you have any recommendations for other Sunday Riley products I am all ears! Would love to get some.
Psssst, apparently the Sunday Riley site is down currently. But here it is nonetheless:
