My Top 3 Hydrating Lip Products

It just so happens my three favorite lip products are hydrating, most likely because I constantly have terribly chapped lips. So while these are all hydrating products (hence the title), they are also my favorite products that I never leave the house without! Let’s just jump right in…

First is Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lip Balm with sunscreen. I know, the name is slightly creepy, but we can get past it together. Once you get past the name you’ll seriously fall in love with this stuff. It’s the cheapest of the three and does a great job of hydrating your lips while also providing sun protection, something we probably don’t think too much about. I like to wear this when I go for a run outside or when I hit the pool. Often times I will also wear this under a little lipstick if I want the protection and moisture, but also a little colour. It glides on very smoothly and relieves my chapped lips within 24 hours with continuous use.

The only downfall to this is because it has sunscreen in it, it’s not the best tasting thing you’ll ever put on your lips. You can smell the sunscreen a little but for the most part I do think they do a decent job of masking it. You can get this for around $3 at Target.

The second product that I use all the time (probably daily, honestly), is Rosebud Perfume Co.’s Menthol and Eucalyptus Balm. I usually just refer to it as ‘rosebud salve’, which is their main seller I believe. This one has a minty smell sort of like Vicks VapoRub. One of its main ingrediants is petrolatum which I know is controversial as far as containing carcinogens, and apparently not being as effective as some alternatives. However, this stuff is suuuper duper hydrating for me. If I want to heal some chapped lips, this will get the job done in 24 hours with a consistent use. You can grab this for $6 at any Sephora.

My final favorite is the Bite Agave Lip Mask. This is a lot thicker than the other balms because this one is a ‘mask’. This one smells the best of the three. You can plan on this one having a sweet smell like sugar, which the agave contributes to. Because it’s thicker, you get this wonderful hydrating feeling on your lips. Really great to slip on at night before you sleep or to wear under some matte lipstick to keep your lips from drying out and creasing.

This baby also comes in two colours! I myself have the plain jane one, but if you want to wear this look during the daytime with a little colour you can grab ‘Champagne’ or ‘Smashed’. I’ve tried the Champagne and seriously considered buying it because the color is very subtle and pretty, but I mostly use this as a night time repairing treatment. Guess it wouldn’t hurt to look good while you sleep! This one is the priciest of the three and you can pick this up at Sephora for about $25.

All three of these products work great if you get chapped lips often. I wouldn’t necessarily say one is better than the other because they are all slightly different products, which is the main reason I keep all three with me at all times. I use Baby Lips if I am going to be in the sun or to wear under some lipstick, I use Rosebud Salve on it’s own sporadically throughout the day, and then I use the agave lip mask more in the evening. I don’t usually use all three in one day.

What are your favorite lip products you can’t live without? I’d love to hear of some new ones, so leave me a comment below!

This post might turn out to be quite helpful. I am so hopelessly addicted to chapstick. I can’t live without my Burt’s Bees lip balm, because when I don’t have any on, I feel uncomfortable, and my lips instantly feel dry. It sucks. Maybe if I try these out, I might be able to stop using chapstick for good! Thanks for sharing!! 🙂

You’re so welcome! I can definitely attest to the chapstick addiction too!

This is the perfect post for right now! The weather is so cold here in France at the moment and my lips are starting to crack!

I am allergic to all forms of chap stick and lip moisturizers (although I have no problems wearing lipstick). For some reason chapstick gives me a bad rash (I’ve tried many different brands). Fortunately my lips rarely get dry (even in the winter season), but I like to use vaseline and a toothbrush to exfoliate my lips, that keeps them moisturized. Have a great day!

Ah man! I’m sorry to hear that. At least yours don’t get dry often. I pick at my lips so much! Ugh. I’ve never tried vaseline with a toothbrush, but that sounds interesting. Gonna have to try that!

The baby lips lipbalm doesn’t do much for me. I’m not really a huuuge fan of it. It’s nice but that’s all.
I’m currently using a lip oil from essence and it works well ! I like it a lot !

Yeah I can see that. I’m not sure I’d buy any of the others, but I really like the sunscreen one. I’ll have to try the Essence oil! Thanks for the suggestion. I can’t get enough of lip stuff haha. 😉

rosebuds used to be my favourite, I stopped used it because the tin package wasn’t that hygienic. The tubes look amazing and I hope they’ll start selling it in the UK soon

Same!! I was sooo happy when I found the tube. I hated having to dip my finger in the tin one.
