I had the wonderful opportunity (as I see so many other ladies did too) to test out the new Make Up Forever Artist Rouge Lipsticks. I received three to test complimentary of Influenster, and I tried two of the shades out this weekend. The colours are gorgeous, there’ s no doubt about that. I was more concerned with the wear and feel of these, so I figured two to test would be enough.
On My Lips
These glide on so effortlessly and they almost remind me of a gel. The texture is so smooth it’s even beyond creamy. That being said they also sit on the lips very comfortably. The smell is minuscule and they don’t smell like anything particular except maybe something slightly sweet. These lipsticks are very pigmented and feel absolutely luxurious on the lips. Make Up For Ever is known for being a preferred brand of makeup artists and always very pigmented. I believe they said these were 25% more pigmented than their original Artiste Rouge formula. These remind me most of Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche lipsticks, with more than 45 impressive colour options.
These wear decently throughout the day. I did not receive the matte ones but I received the satin finish ones, so I definitely wasn’t expecting an all day wear. They did come off for me during brunch. But it’s brunch, so it’s totally worth it…
C211, C502, and C404
I don’t have too much about the colours to say, so let’s just talk about them all together! These are all gorgeous, and that’s pretty much the bottom line. C211 is a beautiful cool toned dark mauvy pink. This colour looks a lot lighter on the stick and turned in to a beautiful dark mauve on my lips. A very unique colour for sure. Also a unique colour is C502 which is a light cool toned purple. I never EVER thought I’d like a purple on myself and I avoided this trend at all costs, but I love this colour on myself. The last colour I received was a vibrant red in C404. To be totally honest I haven’t worn this one yet. Red takes some commitment to wear because you’ll be scrubbing it off for days, am I right ladies?? So I haven’t made the jump yet, but the swatch is lovely.
These are really luxurious high quality lipsticks from Make Up For Ever. They are definitely more pigmented than their last release, yet they still wear comfortably. I will definitely be sporting these this fall and I cannot wait to wear the purple one again! Packaging is ‘decent’ and pretty plain, but that’s what I would expect of Make Up For Ever. The tube is very sturdy though which I love!
Would I Purchase These?
Yes I would purchase these. They are definitely worth the money and I would love to try out the matte. I think $22 is a nice price point for these. The Amuse Bouche ones are $26 at Sephora. I will say though, I do think Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche line inches these out. Try both and see what you think!
Have you tried the new Artiste Rouge lipsticks yet? How do you think they compare to the Amuse Bouche lipsticks? Anyone have the same thoughts as me? Leave me a comment below!
