I was so happy to discover this cute tucked away coffee shop in the lovely SoMa district of San Francisco. My time in San Francisco was brief (as it usually is), but starting my day at La Capra was definitely one of the highlights.
Initially I had no idea this coffee shop existed, and I had only made plans to stop by Saint Frank because of time constraints. Scouring the city for a coffee shop near my hotel, I knew I wouldn’t find many in the area (I was in between the Financial district and SoMa). I was considering Sightglass for a quick cup, when La Capra popped up on my Yelp search and the decor and proximity sold me immediately.
When I walked in a light bulb turned on. ‘La Capra’ was short for Capricorn, and being a Capricorn myself, I was in love.
Since La Capra is situated between Salesforce and a ton of other tech company buildings, most people sipping their coffees were in suites or well dressed. The vibe was still very chatty and people generally seemed to be having a great time. There is a small bar area up front and another one to the right side when you walk in. There is ample seating with beautiful white marble tables throughout the coffee shop. The counters are also decorated with the same lovely white marble, and the floors are covered in small hexagon tiles which provide yet another crisp white canvas to photograph from. Most of the interior reminds me of a classic Parisian cafe.
My coffee came out a little slow, though there were a few people ahead of me. They also got my order wrong. I ordered just a plain old latte, and I guess they heard ‘soy latte’, so not sure how that happened! It’s a bit harder to judge a latte using soy, but the latte was still exceptional and made for a great morning drink. Definitely nothing short of the quality you come to expect when you live in San Francisco. For me their coffee lands somewhere in the middle. Not blown away, but also not disappointed.
My favorite things about La Capra had to be their crisp white decor and Capricorn name. I even picked up their latte cup which features their goat and logo across the cup. I just couldn’t resist! This place is amazing for photographing and will look beautiful on your Instagram. The lighting is superb too. There is just too much to love about this place and I cannot wait to stop by again next time! Pssst, they also roast their own beans.
What’s your sign? And what do you think of this fun twist on a cafe?!
